: Ralph,

: Get yourself a copy of the shareware program "SNOOPER" (look at www.simtel.net/simtel.net/msdos.html for "snoop"). It'll tell you the IDE IDENTIFY info if the drive is configured.

: It's probably either a Conner CP2124 or Seagate ST9144A, I'd think. I put a ST9144A in a 386sx 1755 (actually a DEC 320p, which is the same system), but for some reason it wasn't able to use a Toshiba MK1522FCV, a faster drive which does work fine in a GRiD 1720.

: The unit's pretty easy to open up; the "secret" screws are the front screw on the left hinge and a screw in front of and to the right of the right hinge. (I'm assuming the 486 1755 is the same as the 386 in that respect.) One of the screws on the bottom memory door has to come out too.

: Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I made a 70% partition and that formated correctly.
The left over partition formated with no problem! I don't know why.

But I still don't have enough room to install WIN95.

Can WindowsCE be used on this machine?

Thanks for your help.

Ralph
